Barns And Cribs
Summer Collection
Arden Howe brings us nearly 150 pages of vanishing American architecture.
Enjoy these landmark old barns, symbolic links to our agrarian
past and an important facet of architecture before they disappear
from the American landscape. The photographs in this series
of old barn books will remain in your memory and seed your imagination
with visions of the hearty folks who built and used these grand structures.
In the not-too-distant future, most of these old barns will disappear,
honed to obscurity by the weather or replaced by metal buildings
of boring symmetry.

Barns And Cribs
Fall Collection
A drive in the country in most areas of the United States will yield
a look at impressive agricultural architecture. Before the combine,
farmers dried ears of corn in the loft of a type of barn called a
corn crib. While these structures still exist, they now fulfill other
purposes, since, modernly, the combine shucks the kernels from the
ear. Other barn types include hay, equipment, and livestock barns.
Architectural types, to name a few, include Dutch, prairie or Western,
round, English, bank or multi-purpose, and horse. These nearly 180
pages of old barns and corn crib structures provide an important
visual link to our past.
